Despite Thousands of Angry Richmond Residents, City council passes motion to Have Drug Injection Site

Cover Image

Almost 1000 Richmond Residents protested in front of the City Hall at Tuesday February 13th, 2024. They where upset about the proposal to have a drug injection site near Richmond Hospital, which will increase crime and more drugs users in the city.

Richmond newspaper wrote there were only 100 people protesting, which is NOT true.
Almost 1000 protesters where shouting loud: "NO DRUGS"

We only found a biased video from CBC Youtube called "Richmond city council passes motion to explore potential drug consumption site, sparking backlash" was trying to justify the proposal to have the drug injection site.

PLEASE BE AWARE that CBC news and all other Canadian Main Stream media are NOT true journalism anymore. They write for Justin Trudeau and are trying to influence the Canadian citizens.

The Video got over 3400 views and over 500 comments in 4 days!

Majority of the viewers were against the drugs injection site.
Read  ALL the comments why they dislike the proposal from Richmond City Counsellors :

If you use needles and crack pipes in public, straight to jail. Then they should get sent out from there to drug detox rehab and mental hospitals. The general public should not be subjected to this. Its sinister that they keep forcing it on us.

Although the council hardly listen to the sharing, the citizens of Richmond did. And thank you for the councils for making the next election easy. We know who not to vote. Richmond residents will remember this the next time they’re at the voting booth. They will most certainly remember Kash Heed wanting to bring a drug house into the city so that druggies can mobilize and start camping in the city. Kash use to head up the drug squad at VPD, and then went onto consulting for a drug maker. The conflicts are so obvious, it’s sickening. It’s all about optics. And the optics do not look good for Kash.

At 3:32, the woman wasn't making a "beeline" for kash heed, she was submitting documents like everyone else. kash heed was frustrated that people submitting documents earlier in the lineup vocalized their disagreement of his proposal and lashed out his anger by THROWING the documents and HITTING THE WOMAN with it. I have video evidence from another perspective that shows this incident. Really not sure why CBC is twisting the narrative for this portion... maybe cross-examine your facts before reporting next time... using common sense, what reason does a woman have for "making a beeline" for heed? In what world would she win in a physical altercation against someone the size of heed?

Kash Heed (apparently has some connection to a pharmaceutical company) and he attacked a Richmond citizen who had the podium…and was revealing this. AND… A consumption site is an idea, but a treatment centre is a better idea, and a couple of detox centres would help, too. The govt and public health doesn’t want to miss a chance for when drugs are legalized because they want the tax dollars. You see it not only is a language thing, it’s more…well face it…about money.

Does Richmond city council not know that addicts in downtown Vancouver can hop on Skytrain and be in the centre of Richmond in 30 minutes? The supervised drug consumption site at Richmond hospital and surrounding area could easily look like parts of downtown Vancouver. Of course this would soon spread to other parts of Richmond. Not what Richmond residents are looking for.

Most folks are too tired to deal with investing who they are electing into seats here when it should be our first priority after our own families especially our children. “Start a dialogue” or “explore the possibilities” is just strategic language to open a door. They already have their mind made up. None of those officials go into these things not already knowing what they’re going to do. They act like they haven’t made up their mind yet and are open to differing viewpoints before deciding how to proceed. It’s all an act. Once they have their minds made up, they won’t stop unless they are convinced they made a big mistake. One that could cost them their jobs or power. The demonstrations were useful in that they got media attention onto the issue, but in order to ramp up the pressure we have to avoid going in an unruly or even unlawful direction. That just makes them laugh, and even benefits them since they can parlay the events into getting more power to deal with the “chaos”. What needs to be done is action that could really hurt them through loss of support, loss of financial backing, and public exposure that digs even deeper into the root problem, in this case, addiction. It’s almost guaranteed that any initiative being taken by the city is a short term bandaid solution primarily for short term political gain. Digging deeper, and exposing the problem completely by tracking all the decisions and actions taken, revealing any incompetence that gets discovered will destroy political careers, get people fired, and shine a light on the movement of public funds. Watch the politicians stop their plans as quick as they can to prevent as much damage as possible. If we’re smart, we’ll keep the pressure on, and not just stop at this issue but look into every issue. You can’t let people like this settle into their status quo. That’s where they thrive. They will only change if they have to.

Creating a “safe place” to use drugs will only lead to an increase in drug use. People struggling with addiction need treatment to help them stop…not encouragement to keep them going. It’s mind boggling to see politicians trying to build a drug haven for addicts and dealers. Instead they should be focusing on facilitating healthy growth and development of our youth. Educating them about the risks associated with drug use and ensuring that there are preventative measures and deterrents in place to steer kids away from dangers of drug use.

People don't know how devastating it is for parents like myself to spend this last Christmas in the ICU and praying to God that your child survives. These drugs like fentynal, crack and meth is killing our kids. Never did I ever expect my child whom is now a young man diagnosed with Schizophrenia at age 20 to end up 12 years later fighting for his life. Canada needs support groups for parents dealing with this. The devastion of finding out and the lack of support to help leaves us feeling alone.

Quoting Councilor Day of Richmond on the Feb 13 meeting "we have the lowest drug overdose rate in British Columbia, why is that? Because all of these 9 people (city council) have worked hard to keep Richmond safe" Apparently Councilor Day thinks the credit goes to them instead of the collaborative effort of family influence and safeguarding by Richmond residents to tackle the drug abuse issue early on. Which also explains why certain council members "can't understand" where the tremendous anger comes from, because the sentiments is that those opposed are being "misled" therefore their opinions don't matter. I mean, if the opposed were "misled" or "misinformed", isn't that shows the lack of public consultation and community outreach? Easy for you to slap a label on your constituents and kick to the trash can. Not to mention how quickly Councilor Heed went full denial and threatened to sue over "defamation" when one of the delegate expressed conflict of interest concerns and laid out a timeline of potential affiliation between Heed and a pharmaceutical company base on public information. After watching the recording of both meetings, I feel sorry for residents of Richmond. What a bunch of arrogant politicians they have in their cityhall.

As usual it’s the social wedge issues that get people all up in arms . There are much worse things going on here in Richmond than the proposal to research the viability of a safe drug use site. Like how so much tax money goes towards the hapless excess dyking projects which eventually can only fail. Let the water in. Richmond needs aesthetically pleasing overflow canals, not dykes. Richmond needs a cemetery. Richmond needs a way to stop endless newly built condos being empty most of the year, because of the need to have a safe property in safe Canada to move when things get too rough in China. If people want to participate in local politics, they should get involved in real issues - not wedge issues that affect very few people

She only changed her mind because of the major public backlash and reputation concern that's already in the shithole. It's quite hypocritical of her trying to change the narrative by generalizing the public that we got second hand information translated for them. Her intention is to blame the public instead of taking responsibility. The majority of citizens in Richmond understand English perfectly fine and they are fully aware what's going on. Her attempt to manipulate the situation is truly sad and people will always remember this.

People need to understand the historical reasons in the Chinese mind. China lost Hong Kong in the Opium war initiated by the UK in the 1840s for 99 years and millions of families lost their lives due to drug invasion. selling drugs or providing drugs to people is deemed as murder or destroying their lives. No parents want their kids involved in drugs in the Chinese community. Vancouver government built a drug consumption house near Chinatown many years ago and it destroyed the Chinese shops and restaurants. Without going through the proper process, the Richmond government wants to repeat the tragedy in the center of Richmond where ~40% population is Chinese. Compared with other cities, the Chinese community has far less drug consumption. Why the drug consumption house has to be located in Richmond? The Federal government should revisit the drug policies in Canada for the well-being of Canadians.

There are two main reasons why this caused an uproar: 1. I agree that the Asian community in Richmond does not believe in safe consumption sites in Richmond sue to historical reasons. 2. The government has a poor record in managing the community around safe consumption, see Chinatown. The government, local and provincial, needs to have a comprehensive plan showing the community and providing examples where such plan improves the community.
